One rhetorical strategy Fredrick Douglas uses is parallelism; one example of him using this is when he says: "What he most dreaded, that I most desired. What he most loved, that I most hated." both of these sentences explain how they feel two different things, using opposite words. Another rhetorical strategy he uses is personification. One example of him using personification he says, "Under its influence, the tender heart became stone, and the lamblike disposition gave way to one of tiger-like fierceness." In this sentence, he beautifully personifies a heart.
