What did england and the english settlers really want from colonization? did they want national glory, wealth, adventure, a solution to social tensions, and or new sources of goods and trade? did they get what they wanted?

A lot of people get it mixed up and say freedom since many early Northern American colonists wanted to escape very strict religious laws in England. Fleeing persecution. But, the main reasons were resources and wealth. Keep in mind the conditions in Europe for many that were of poverty, so the idea of coming to the New World was adventurous and provided hope. Colonies meant access to new markets, more labor, and raw materials. There were more people to trade goods with and more people to exploit to work on their plantations. Colonies also allowed them to grow crops that wouldn't grow in their homeland. England and the English really wanted the power from colonization. Gaining colonies meant their territory or empire was developing and would pass other countries by land. I believe it was definitely for economic prosperity.
