In the 20th century the independence and decolonization movements in India.Israel and Nigeria were all very similar.All the countries had declared independence and decolonization through peace,mantaining structure,and culture groups through understandings with each other. They went about this way to avoid war and violence by trying to understand each other and just separate instead of trying to be united. They went through many obstacles in order to mantain the peace in order to get indepence.

For instance, In document five it says " We appeal – in this very midst of the onslaught launched against us now months - to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions. We extend our hand to all neighbouring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighbourliness, ... " What is being said here is that the people of Israel even though war was brought upon them , they still advocate through peace. Another instance is in document 6 it says, " These parties negotiated with the British government over constitutional changes, but cooperation among them was the result of expediency rather than an emerging sense of national identity. Because of the essentially regional political alignments of the parties, the British government decided to impose a political solution for Nigeria based on a federally structured constitution." What the author is saying is that both sides of the orginizations advocated in a peaceful way in order to come to an understandable compromise in the end.

" What is being said here is that through their letter asking for a safe place in order to mantain structure for them in order to still love peacefully.Another example is in document two, it shows Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah together who advocated for the seperation of a Muslim state to maintain peace and structure.
Finally the last similarity of the independence and decolonization movements in India,Israel, and Nigeria in the 20th century is maintaining culture groups. In documents five and four it talks about and shows mainly Nigeria and India's culture groups. For example in document five it says, " On November 29, 1947, the General Assembly of United Nations passed a resolution calling for the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel. The General Assembly required the inhabitants of Eretz-Israel to take such steps as were necessary on their part for the implementation of that resolution...by virtue of our natural and historic right and on the strength of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, hereby proclaim the establishment of the Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the state of Israel. " This means by their historical culture right the before state of Israel had to change in order to mantain their culture. Another example is in document four which basically shows the different countries , where their located and their culture groups.
