What term means having a knowledge of something which means in recognition of value and increased observation.

This would be an appreciation of something. An appreciation would mean a recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something. For example if someone has an appreciation of fine wine they recognize the good qualities of the wine and are more observant of them and they have a varied knowledge of wine.
