did you know Horikoshi’s dream was to have a long-running serialization in Shonen Jump; however, unfortunately for Horikoshi, that dream was seemingly crushed after his second series, Barrage, was cancelled after such a short serialization. This ended up sending him into a bit of a depression. Because he was in such a sad and depressed state of being, he wanted to focus the happy aspects of his previous works into whatever new manga he decided to create; thus led to when he thought back to a one-shot he created back in 2008 called, and you guessed it, My Hero. This one shot was essentially My Hero Academia before My Hero Academia and contained a lot of elements from what would later become what we know as My Hero Academia. Horikoshi thought back to how happy he was while he created that one shot, and decided to build off of it for his next manga; which would of course later become My Hero Academia.
