Step 1: Choose an instrument. You may use an instrument connected with your heritage, that is, an ethnic instrument, a historical instrument such as the hurdy-gurdy, or a modern instrument not already discussed in this chapter.
Step 2: Research the instrument and find out:
its origins;
what it looks like;
how it's played;
in what situations or for what purpose the instrument is/was used.
Step 3: Find two or three pictures of the instrument. At least one picture should show a person actually playing the instrument.
Step 4: Find at least two sample recordings of the instrument.
Step 5: Analyze the timbre of the instrument using the recordings you found in Step 4.
