The amount of physical and mental extremes the players in Miracle go to are incredible. For example, after a particularly lackluster exhibition performance, Coach Herb Brooks has them
skating line sprints well past the time the arena lights go off until they understand who they play
for. To make their fatigue look as real as possible, the actors actually did the sprints for hours on
end over three days, so all that retching and coughing is quite real. Why are athletes willing to
push themselves like this?
