During the Renaissance period, art has a striking harmony and balance with one another.Painting reflected maturity and elegance that had come through continuous experiments and intensity of expression.Painters during the Renaissance period were financially supported by the Pope and wealthy families.A wealthy patron would spend on painter by commissioning art. The wealthy merchants and families in Europe became a patron of art, which allowed painters to focus on their work.In the modern period, art holds its place in the commercial aspect.Most of the artists in the modern period are self-employed with no patron to support them financially.

Therefore we can conclude that the aspect of art was different during Renaissance and modern periods.

Most art during the Renaissance period was done by commission. A patron came to the artist and told them what it was that they wanted, and all aspects of the transaction were hashed out ahead of any actual creative work being done: pay, time to complete the work, what medium would be used, and the subject of the work. A Renaissance era artist had the advantage of knowing ahead of time all he would need to complete such work, at the disadvantage of very little artistic license. Commercial art includes advertising, graphic design, branding, logos and book illustrations. Fine art includes paintings, sculptures, printmaking, photography, installation, multi-media, sound art, and performance.

Although Renaissance artists continued to paint religious paintings, they also branched out to other subjects including Greek and Roman mythology, historical subjects, and portraits of individuals. They also focused on the details of everyday life.
