we have 2 sacred music examples: Gregorian Chant and a motet. We have one secular music example: a madrigal. The Gregorian Chant was composed almost 1000 years before the motet and the madrigal. Please compare and contrast these 3 pieces, addressing harmonic texture in particular. Please also answer the question: In your opinion, do the motet and the madrigal represent 1000 years' worth of evolution in musical composition compared to the Gregorian Chant? Please support your answer using the elements of music.
