Describe how volcanic mountains are formed.

In a convergent plate boundary, when the denser oceanic plate sinks below a less denser oceanic or continental plate, it forms a subduction zone. The subducting plate at great depth undergoes partial melting, as a result of which the plate melts and the magma rises up towards the over-riding plate, resulting in the formation of volcanoes and volcanic arcs.

These volcanoes after eruptions the lava comes out and solidifies near the base. Also, sometimes violent eruptions takes place, as a result of which the volcano gets collapsed and the magma inside it gets solidified. This forms a mountain which are commonly known as the volcanic mountains. These mountains are mainly comprised of volcanic particles that solidifies and forms hard rocks.
