Directions in this project, you will make a pyramid to you understand who the producers and consumers are. it may you to draw your own pyramid before answering the questions below. do additional research if you need to find out about any words on the list. click here to make a printout of a pyramid. from the following list, take the producers and write them in the blank space on the lowest level. acorns deer mice apple trees eagles owls cabbage frogs potatoes carrots grains rabbits chickens grass squirrels corn horses wolves cows lettuce worms take the plant-eating consumers who eat only producers and put them on the second level. put all predators on the third level. after completing the pyramid, in the writer box, answer the following five questions: list all of the producers that you put in level one. list all of the consumers that you put in level two. list all of the predators that you put in level three. explain why there are more producers than consumers and more consumers than predators on your pyramid. a mouse eats 100 times his own weight in grain in a lifetime. you can see that plants must produce a great amount of food for just one mouse. what do you think would happen if grain was no longer available for the mouse to eat? how would it affect other consumers and the predators in this ecosystem?
