Elastic fibres refers to the bundle of protein called the elastin found in the extracellular matrix of the connective tissue proper. They are found in the lungs and its characteristic feature is it can stretch and compress back to its original shape allowing the processes of inhalation and exhalation. It is also called the yellow elastic tissue.
