What happens during g1,s, g2,m, phases of the cell

a cell cycle control mechanism activated during the g1 checkpoint,  ensures that everything is ready for DNA synthesis. DNA replication happens during the S phase. During G2, the gap between DNA synthesis and mitosis, the cell will continue to grow and create new proteins.
