They involve cellular division and they result in production of offspring. these two processes differ by the number of cells needed for the reproduction, the type of cell division involved and the genetic structure of the daughter cells. in asexual reproduction there is no mixing of genetic material, the mother cell just divides into two by mitosis and creates its identical clone. on the other side, in sexual reproduction, two haploid cells formed in the meiotic division fuse, combining their genetic material and creating a genetically unique individual.
