Differences between physical and biological aspects of environment

Physical environment is the sum of all abiotic (non-living) elements such as water, air (gases), minerals, etc. In a physical environment, total amount of matter remains same but it may changes its state. Physical environment provides shelter, food and energy to the living organisms.

Biological environment includes all forms of life that interact closely with the abiotic elements and perform biogeochemical activities for their own growth and survival. In short, biotic entities directly depend on the elements of physical environment.
