On a dark, rainy night, a high school student was walking home after a basketball game and was struck by a car. injuries to the young man included a broken leg and cuts and bruises that occurred when the young man was hit by the front of the car and bounced off the hood. the driver of the car drove away from the scene. the police were called by another driver who witnessed the accident. the witness provided a description o the car and partial license plate number. the next day, the police found and interviewed the alleged driver of the hit-and-run. they asked to see the man's car to look for any evidence of recently hitting a person. the car owner said that he'd recently hit a small deer.

a) what type of testing could achieve the following?
i. reveal the presence of blood.
ii. determine whether any blood found was animal or human.
iii. exclude this driver as being the driver who struck the young man.

b) the police officer noticed a dried reddish stain on the front of the car and along with the hood. he took out a sealed moist hand wipe and wiped the stain with it. he placed the wipe with the evidence in a plastic ziptop bag and then put it into an evidence bag.
i. identify the numerous errors made by this police officer in collecting the evidence.
ii. summarize the proper method of collecting dry evidence that could be blood.
iii. do police have the right to demand to see your car if they suspect that you were involved in a hit-and-run accident? research your rights in that situation. support your answer with evidence from your research.
