One structure that both Eukaryotic cells and viruses have in common is DNA, but eukaryotic cells have many other organelles (like mitochondria) that a virus does not.

The other cell type is prokaryotic, which are bacteria and other small organisms.

A virus is not considered a living creature because it does not possess organelles or is it able to multiply on its own. Viruses are made up mostly of nucleic acid and proteins. This nucleic acid is sometimes in the form of DNA, which is one thing it can have in common with eukaryotic cells, but the virus does not have any of the organelles that a eukaryotic cell does, for example,  mitochondria.
