Phenotype: A change in the environment also can affect the phenotype. Although we often think of flamingos as being pink, pinkness is not encoded into their genotype. The food they eat makes their phenotype white or pink.

The difference between a genotype and phenotype is that genotype has to do with the gene present in the DNA which is passed from parents to offspring while phenotype deals with phenotypic characteristics which are expressed in physical forms.  

Genotype lies within the DNA and could only be extracted through rigorous experiment while phenotype is easily seen through expression of traits such as skin color, heights among others
