Suppose that Rose has myotonic dystrophy and shows traits such as uncontrolled muscle activity. Rose\'s mother, Becky, is dystrophic, but her father is normal. Rose is married to Dave, and Dave is normal. Rose and Dave have a daughter, Lisa, and two sons, Phil and Carl. Lisa and Phil are normal, but Carl is dystrophic. Rose\'s sister, Jill, is normal. Jill\'s husband and their only child are also normal. Rose\'s brother, Pete, is dystrophic, and has three children with Mary, who is normal. Pete and Mary have two daughters, Pat and Sandy, as well as a son, Luke. Pat is normal, but Sandy and Luke are dystrophic. The image below is the pedigree of Rose\'s family.
