What does it mean to be less/more dense

Dense is basically a term in   which we refer to as "density" density is often referred to as mainly involving liquids , solids , woods and other materials it is used to measure the close compacted materials such as in oats to measure how they float and how many cubics it may carry so less or more may be a     {result of weather the specific object is heavy/light}
