14C-labeled lysine was added to an in vitro translation system consisting of purified components necessary for E. coli translation and the rest of the amino acids in unlabeled form. In one experiment, the in vitro translation was performed in the absence (-) of RNA template. In a second reaction, in vitro translation was performed in the presence (+) of poly(U) RNA template.
