Lots of myths and legends may personify animals to help teach morals or lessons within the story. For example, in Asop's fable the Fox and the Grapes, the fox is portrayed as an animal that gives up easily when coming across a difficult problem while the bird in the story is portrayed as one that will put the effort into solving the problem and therefore being rightfully awarded for it. The animals were personified by their given personalities. These animals are also seen as being represent by something like intelligence, slyness, greed and etc.
