Refer to the following passage to answer the following questions. Oxygen is a waste product of photosynthesis that reacts readily with iron. Three billion years ago atmospheric oxygen concentration increased and free iron in ocean water decreased as a result of photosynthetic prokaryotes. The decrease in free iron in the ocean was followed by the evolution of photosynthetic eukaryotes. Oxygen concentration continued to increase. The increased oxygen further depleted the remaining free iron in the ocean and led to increased atmospheric oxygen and the emergence of land plants.

The relationship between the evolution of life and the composition of our atmosphere has resulted in many changes to our planet. One of the first major changes was the addition of oxygen due to photosynthetic activity of photosynthetic prokaryotes. What would you expect to find in large amounts in rock bands that formed during this time period?

a
Bands of fossilized dinosaurs
b
Bands of fossilized plants
c
Bands of iron oxides
d
Bands of solid iron

Ry was studying two populations of the same species of lizards. one population lived on an island and the other lived on the mainland. both populations were affected by a hurricane that hit the island and the mainland with equal force. a year later, henry was testing the gene frequency and saw a decrease in genetic variation in the island species, but not in the mainland species. which best describes a conclusion he might have reached? gene flow greatly affects small populations, but large populations can recover. genetic drift greatly affects small populations, but large populations can recover. gene flow greatly affects large populations, but small populations can recover. genetic drift greatly affects large populations, but small populations can recover.

Students in biology are studying the macromolecules of life. they used a calorimeter to determine the calories in various types of food. once the lab was completed, the students ate the left over food samples. monica commented that in just 6 or 7 "chews" of the saltine, it was gone; nothing but a sticky paste in her mouth. elaborate on what happened chemically while chewing the saltine. include the macromolecules present.
