This is kind of process of elimination. Scientists don't move onto new ideas with out proof so C it out. They wouldn't just ignore new data so it's not D. Between A and B, B seems most likely because when scientists look into new data they wouldn't necessarily have the mindset of trying to prove that it is unreliable. They just want to confirm and learn.
