In carbon cycle, carbon is just being recycled from one thing to other. For example, here we can see that green plants are part of carbon cycle because they go through photosynthesis, a process through with plants take in Carbon dioxide. Now when this organism (the organism could be an animal or plant) dies, the bacteria decomposes the organic matter (the dead body) and through respiration the carbon dioxide is released back into the environment.

Another way carbon recycles is that animals, plants, and microorganisms all respire (breathe out) CO2 thus carbon dioxide is added to the environment.
