Why must organisms continuously acquire energy and materials from the external environment to maintain homeostasis?

In order  for organisms to sustain all biochemical reactions,and  relatively constant internal environments energy must be available in the internal environments.Food substance s are the sources of these energy.They are broken down during cellular respiration and the energy contain is obtain as ATPs.

These (ATPs)are expended  for biological work in living organism.Since second law of thermodynamic stated that,in the process of transfer of energy from one form to another,energy is expended as heat.Thus the amount of the heat  energy can not be maintain as constant in the organism,

Thus in order to maintain biochemical reactions for biological works continuous source of energy from the external source most be available.

Since the maintenance of constant internal environment of an orgasm is called homeostasis, and this process involved complicated networks fir systems and organs,therefore a constant source of energy for biochemical reactions for this to take place is needed.
