How do the positions of the aronium and antheridium relate to their reproductive function?

Generally in non flowering plant the male sex organ is called the antheridium,while the female is called the  achegonium. Due to the habitat and methods of reproduction, special adaptive feature s have been developed by these plants to ensure reproduction and prevent extinction.
