Our model includes the fact that as whales dive deep and then come back to the ocean surface the whales help phytoplankton to move to the
surface' they phytoplankton can use sunlight near the surface to do
photosynthesis.(whales need to come to the surface to breathe air, they
cannot get oxygen from water- they are mammals, not fish!). Explain why
this is important for decreasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere and helps slow climate change.
