the Gravitational pull from the moon and the sun create high tides and low tides.  spring tides happen when the sun, Earth, and moon are lined up in a row. the spring tides are the highest tides.

the gravitational pull is so strong and the movement from the water creating energy makes the water, i guess you could say have slightly larger air pockets by expanding, makes the water take up more space...
