High levels of fine particles and ground-level ozone are the two primary causes of poor air quality in much of the US, including Minnesota. Ground-level ozone is not emitted directly, but is created in the air through a reaction of NOX
and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) mixing in the presence of sunlight. Ozone concentrations typically peak in the
afternoon and are highest in the summer, when daylight hours are long and temperatures are high. In Minnesota,
ozone concentrations are highest from May through September. What can YOU do to help decrease the amount of
