PROJECT: HABITATS Organisms live in habitats suited to their needs. If environmental conditions change, the organism must adapt, move to
another place, or suffer. For this project, you will create a habitat for organism(s).

gallon jar (or other large, glass container)
Directions
Select one of the following habitats and set up a living community. You may use an area nearby to gather organisms or
environmental factors for your habitat.
• freshwater aquarium
• woodland terrarium
• marine aquarium
• desert terrarium
• aqua-terrarium
Then, respond to the following questions and prompts in the essay box below using at least 300 words.
1. Indicate the habitat you chose.
2. What kinds of organisms does your habitat contain?
3. Describe at least three environmental factors essential to the survival of organisms in your habitat.
4. Study your habitat for several weeks to observe and record any changes. What changes occurred in your habitat
after a period of time?
5. What effect will these changes have on your habitat?
