Discuss the role of cell turgor to plants

Turgor potential or pressure is potential also known as pressure potential takes place in a plant cell that exerts pressure on the walls of the plant cell due to the movement of water through osmosis.

Role of cell turgor:

1. regulates the shape of the cell.

2. It provides rigidity for the structure of cells

3. High turgor pressure opens stomatal pore low turgor pressure closes the stomata.

4. support to soft tissues like the parenchyma.

5. keeps leaves oriented to the surface available to light.
