They are also trying to look for shelter, and the other moths have taken all the other trees, so they try and take it over. Since all the aspen trees are cut off, there is less room for all the moths combined to live together. This is a example of competition. They are both fighting for land, and one cannot get it, while the other can.

 The population of white moths would significantly decrease. Due to the aspen trees being cut down, the white moths would have no choice but to rest at the pine trees. But, due to them standing out against the bark and not being able to camouflage well, they will be easy targets for predators. The few that may survive would eventually adapt to have brown bodies/wings. The population of brown moths would be relatively unaffected by the lack of aspen trees.
