A baker has created a new strain of yeast which contains no cytochrome c gene and, thus, no cytochrome c protein. This will affect what the yeast strain can do to obtain energy. Making bread is an aerobic process for the yeast. Will this new strain of yeast obtain more or less free energy from glucose in its growing medium?

A. more because it does not have to make cytochrome c and has more resources to give to obtaining energy

B. less because cytochrome c is key to the electron transport chain

C. more because making cytochrome c uses up ATP

D. less because cytochrome c directly produces ATP in the cytoplasm

PART 2: What will there be less of in these cells than in standard yeast?
