In order for someone to be a geneticist they would study the branch of genetics. Genetics is a branch of biology concerned with the study of genes, genetic variation, and heredity in organisms. Along with becoming a geneticist someone would have to have a master's degree or Ph. D. in genetics, and many also require work experience in the field.
