25 POINTS 1) Carefully pinch a piece of the balloon that represents the diaphragm between your thumb

and forefinger. (If you find this to be difficult, use a piece of tape to attach a small piece of

paper to the center of the balloon to use as a handle.) Gently pull the "diaphragm" downward.

What happens to the "lung?"

2) Use the model a few times to demonstrate the process of ventilation. Hopefully you see the

lung expand and fill with air, even slightly. (If you don't, check that everything on your model is

airtight and try again.) Why does this happen?

3) List at least two ways that this model differs from the “real” lungs in the human body.
