Jean Baptiste was a French Statesman who supplied as comptroller of general finance (1665-83) and secretary of state for the navy (1668-83) under King Louis XIV of France.  He was born August 29, 1619 in Reims, France and passed away on September 6, 1683 in Paris.  Jean was deemed in charge of developing trade, industry and the merchant navy, modernising Paris, and assisting new advances for science.
