Many years ago, tree-climbing, leaf-eating iguanas migrated from the mainland of South America to the Galapagos Islands. The only food available was algae that
grew on the rocks in the water near shore. Scientists believe that the iguanas that
survived were those that could swim well, cling to slippery rocks with large claws,
