Through what microscopes were first cells observed

 Well, I dont think they had model numbers back then but I will look on the web for what microscopes where used. I found something but it doesnt say anything about a model of microscope! Here is the fact. The cell was first discovered and named by Robert Hooke in 1665. He remarked that it looked strangely similar to cellula or small rooms which monks inhabited, thus deriving the name. However what Hooke actually saw was the dead cell walls of plant cells (cork) as it appeared under the microscope. This was taken from google, I hope this helps?
