These monkeys have long arms and gripping tails that help them to move gracefully from branch to branch and tree to tree in order to obtain their food. These monkeys find food on the treetops. They feed upon nuts, fruits, leaves, eggs of birds and spiders.

Tropical rain forest is the most likely biome suitable for spider monkey as they exhibit large tree species which can provide good food and habitat facilities to these monkeys. Savanna is not suitable because it exhibit nearly desert like region with small trees and shrubs which cannot support the food and habitat needs of these animals.
