Molecular biology or molecular biology is one branch of biology needed to study life at the molecular scale. This includes the interaction of molecules in living things and their impressions, especially about the interactions of various systems in cells, including interactions of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis, and how these interactions are regulated. This field overlaps with other fields of biology (and chemistry), especially genetics and biochemistry.
Molecular biology researchers use special techniques that are specific to molecular biology (see the Engineering section in another section of the article), but now they are increasingly combining these techniques with techniques and ideas from genetics and biochemistry. There is no clear line that separates this discipline from before. In general, the linkages of these fields can be described as follows:
Biochemistry - the study of chemicals and vital processes that occur in living things.
Genetics - the study of the effects of genetic differences on living things (eg studies of mutants).
Molecular biology - the study of molecular scales of the process of replication, transcription, and translation of genetic material
One of the basic techniques of molecular biology is expression cloning, which is used for example to study the function of proteins. In this technique, pieces of DNA code for the desired protein are transplanted into plasmids (circular DNA is usually found in bacteria; in this technique, plasmids are called expression vectors).
Morphology is the branch of biology that studies the shape and structure of organisms and their specific structural features.
