Describe biodiversity in various places on earth

The biodiversity is defined as the variety of living species that exists in the ecosystem ranging from the microscopic organisms to the large complex multi-cellular organisms. They are not equally distributed in all the places on earth.

The biodiversity is maximum between the tropics and equator, because this region receives the maximum amount of rainfall and sunlight, that provides the essential nutrients for these living organisms to survive and grow. This biodiversity decreases with the increasing altitude. The tropical and equatorial region occupies a smaller amount of earth's surface but contains the maximum diversity. The regions where maximum amount of diverse species exists is known as the hot-spots.

Away from the tropics, towards the polar region, the higher latitudinal areas experiences a colder temperature, that supports a limited range of species diversity.
