If water were a nonpolar molecule, how would the properties of water be different

The movement of water up in the plants depends upon the adhesion and cohesion of the molecules and this would get reduced if water becomes non-polar, and thus, it would become difficult for the water to move up in the plants.  

The non-polar bonds are much weaker in comparison to polar bonds, and thus, the molecules of water would combine together in a weaker manner. If the molecules of water become non-polar, then it would lose its tendency to form hydrogen bonds, as the formation of hydrogen bonds only takes place between the molecules that are polar.
