Why are the ventricles of the heart so much larger than the atria of the heart? the ventricles receive blood from the rest of the body. the atria only receive blood and the ventricles have to pump blood to the lungs or the rest of the body the ventricles only carry oxygenated blood the atria only have to pump blood to the lungs
