The tropical rain forest biome or ecosystem has the highest net primary productivity.  It is considered as the highest net primary productivity for the fact that rainforests usually receives a rainfall of at least 80 inches or 200 cm rain per year.  It is also believed by the scientists that the rainforests consists of about half of the plants and animals that are found on the Earth’s land surface, or even lived near the rainforest areas.  Given also the fact that there is an abundant sunlight in rainforest aside from the abundant amount of rain, its warm temperatures, and a fast turnover of nutrients, these are the reason why tropical rainforests is named as the highest net primary productivity.
