Both are correct because the way the guppies evolved is due to them adapting to the changing environment. Before guppies with medium spots were high in numbers. This because they could blend in well with the rocks which were medium sized. Over time the rocks got smaller and the guppies with smaller spots survived leaving the guppies with larger spots to get killed off by other predators.
