You want to know the size of a population of little brown bats (one of the most common species of bats33in Idaho). This bat species preys on moths and other night-flying insects, mainly around bodies of water. You plan to compare the population sizes of bats near two lakes that are about 100miles away from each other. You set up nets in flyways (areas where bats are known to fly) near lake #1, and the first night you capture and tag 13 little brown bats. The second night you capture 21 little brown bats, 2 of which were tagged the first night. Less than a week later you carry out the same experiment near lake #2. You capture 27 little brown bats on the first night, and 30 bats the second night, 22 of which were tagged the first night.
Required:
a. How large is the bat population around lake #1?
b. How large is the bat population around lake #2?
