Imagine you are in a lab and are looking through a microscope at slides of tissues you need to identify. Look at the microscopic image of each tissue sample below, and use the descriptions of cell types in the lesson to identify the tissue. Label it as one of the four types of tissues: epithelial, connective, muscular, or nerve. Finally, in two to three sentences, summarize the differences you found and describe how you identified the different tissues.
ANSWER:
1. muscular
2. nerve
3. epithelial
4. nerve
5. epithelial
6. muscular
Summary:
The muscular tissues are easiest to identify because they look long and stringy. The connective and nerve tissues look similar, but the nerve tissues have very distinct, dark central sections. Epithelial tissues look like a jigsaw puzzle with little or no space between cells.
