When conditions are right, asexual reproduction is a survival strategy because the faster the reproduce, the better their chance of survival over other organisms using the same resources. Having offspring that are genetically identical is also an advantage as long as conditions remain favorable. However, as a lack of genetic diversity becomes a disadvantage when condition change in ways that do not fit the characteristic of an organism. Sexual reproduction is a survival strategy in a way that when environment changes the offspring may have the right combination of characteristic need to survive because of genetic diversity.
