In this assignment you will think about something you could create using genetic engineering. Use the resources below (readings and videos) to help you consider the implications of your new organism or product. If you could use genetic engineering to create a new organism or to mass-produce a product, what would it be? (5 pts)

Why did you choose this organism or product? (15 pts)

What ethical, legal and social implications would you need to consider? (45 pts)

What impact would it have on the world? (25 pts)

Write 2-3 paragraphs in answer to these questions.

Animal bodies (and even plant bodies for that matter) are complex enough that life couldn't exist without enzymes. enzymes are usually large, complex biological catalysts that are expensive to make. enzymes speed up the rate of chemical reactions without being used up during the reaction (they can be reused many times). they are highly specific in the reactions they regulate. knowing what enzymes are and how they function, why does this explain why complex life forms could not exist if there were no enzymes.
